Question:  Are my sins the reason my child was born with defect, or Is some type of generational curse the reason my child was born with birth defect?

Answer:   No. It is not your fault. You are not to blame for your child's diagnosis. There can be no generational curse because Jesus became a curse for us.  Here is the Biblical basis for the answer to these questions:

Colossians 2:13-14  "And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the hand writing of ordinances which was against us which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross."

Galations 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.

John 10:10  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Question: How does healing work?

Answer:  This ministry is borne from a team of parents whose children are all diagnosed with birth defect (11 diagnosed with down syndrome, 1 diagnosed with autism, 1 with mental retardation, 1 with Hurler’s syndrome). The visible and mental changes are significant in many of the children. The parents are comprised of two catholics and nine protestants (one methodist, one Charasmatic, eight non denominational). The teaching on how healing works, which brought this team together, was the DHT taught by Curry Blake. We know there are other viable and reliable teachings on healing, but this is the teaching that made the difference in our lives.

Question:  Are you judging me as a parent if I choose to accept my child just as they are and don't want them to change?

Answer:  We are not here to judge you. We are here as a resource for the parents who are actively and sincerely seeking healing for birth defect.

Question:  I've prayed the way you have modeled and had other people of faith pray for my child. I see no change. What should I do?

Answer:  Here is what we can offer you: encouragement to not give up. Our experiences as Believers can never nullify the Word of God.  "All the promises to God are in Him Yes and in Him amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20). We can honestly tell you that we have experienced the true meaning of perseverance. "The Word of God is forever settled in Heaven"  (Psalm 119:89). Who are we to decide that "it didn't work" when we prayed for a season?  Be encouraged, the great God of the universe is trustworthy.

Question:  Am I rejecting my child if I want them to be healed?

Answer:  No, you not rejecting your child, you are rejecting the disease.

Question:  How many times should I pray for my child the way that you suggest?

Answer:  Our stance on this is that as long as there is a symptom of the diagnosis, continue to pray in the same manner. We expect God to fulfill his Word fully.  Jesus did not halfway carry our diseases.  He carried them all, 100% fully, completely.  We encourage you to speak the Word until the healing is complete.

Question:  You mentioned in the “What Next?” section of this website that I should create an environment of praise in my home.  I don’t feel like praising God when I look at my child. Do I have to “feel” thankful and worshipful in order to praise God?

Answer:  Of course not! That is why it is referred to as a sacrifice! (Hebrews 13:15 "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”). What has happened to your child’s body can make life challenging. We understand.  But once you decide that God’s will is for them to be healed and whole here on earth, then you have to be proactive in creating an environment of faith and expectation.  Praising God creates an environment where expectation of God’s Word and faith will flourish.

Question: I am not sure if I can pray for healing because this might be God’s will and how can I pray for it to be healed if it is from Him?

Answer: IT IS NOT FROM GOD.  In Acts 10:38 it says,"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him."  Jesus said he came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and came that we may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

In John 14:7-10 Jesus says," If you had known me you would have known my father, and from henceforth you know him and have seen him." This is Jesus giving us a description of our God. "He is the same yesterday, today and forever"(Hebrews 13:8) In Psalm 103:2 it clearly shows God's will for sickness,"Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget none of His benefits...who heals ALL your diseases."

God would not have allowed the above scriptures to be a part of the Bible if  He wanted your child to live with diseases and cope with syndromes.  This would contradict His nature and character and His very Word.  To understand His nature and character it takes time to study the life of Jesus. The Word of God states clearly that, "If you have seen me (Jesus) you have seen the Father(John 14:7) and "I only do what I see the Father doing" (John 5:19). You can be confident that when you seek healing for your child, you are seeking the Father's will.

Question: Is down syndrome God's will?  I've been told by my pastor and family that we must be very special to have a child with down syndrome. They are such happy people.  I've heard many say that the world is a better place because there are people with down syndrome in it.

Answer:  Down syndrome is by medical definition a disease. Jesus has fully paid for healing for every person's physical body. The Believer (Christian) has the capacity to free mankind from disease because they have the Spirit of God inside of them. It's critical for the Believer to know who they are in Christ Jesus and appropriating their authority as Sons and Daughters of God.  Is it right to keep a person in bondage to a disease if you have the power to free them?

Question:  My child is diagnosed with down syndrome and I am believing for their complete healing. I don't know what to say to people who make comments to me in public. I don't even know what to say to my extended family.  What do you say to family, friends and strangers about my child when they make comments?

Answer:  First of all, take heart. "It is impossible to please God without faith" (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is believing in something that you cannot see. You have chosen the road less traveled concerning birth defect. You are a person of faith!  As for what to say to others concerning your child, we have compiled a few responses from the parents we are in touch with who are mighty women and men of faith as well!  These are real responses from real mothers and fathers:

"My child is walking out of that diagnosis. She is healed by the stripes of Jesus. I do not mention this diagnosis and prefer that you do not either around her or my other children. We don't acknowledge it or speak about it."

"We prayed that off of her in the hospital when she was born. We are believing God that she will be completely free of this diagnosis. We are seeing her symptoms disappear more every day."

"I covet your prayers.  Would you like to agree with me that my child will be symptom free of this diagnosis?."

"God is showing me that Psalm 103 is true for chromosomes.  It says that God heals all diseases and nothing is too hard for him."

" Jesus is healing my child."

"I don't know what you are talking about. I don't have a special needs child."

Question:  In Exodus 4:10-12, the Lord tells Moses that He made deafness and muteness. Isn’t the Word of God in this passage enough to support that birth defect is from God and does not need ‘healing’?  Shouldn’t this verse be enough proof that birth defects, such as down syndrome, must be embraced?

Answer:  “And Moses said unto the Lord, o my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth and teach thee what thou shalt say.”  Exodus 4:10-12

Many stand on this Bible verse for their foundation in supporting the belief that birth defects are from God.  Let’s take a closer look at this from a New Covenant perspective.  The Old Covenant was made between Abraham (and his seed) and God.  The New Covenant is made between God and Jesus.  Believers are “In Him” and therefore benefit from this covenant as joint heirs (see also Romans 8:17).  Hebrews 8:6 says, “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.”  What are these promises? (The Greek word for ‘promise’ here means message, promise, announcement.)  These promises include 1 Peter 2:24: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (physically made whole and healed). This occurred when Jesus stood willingly at the whipping post, paying the price for bodily healing.  This is the message of the whipping post.  Jesus never modeled for us how to live with disease.  He modeled healing from all manner of sickness and disease throughout the gospels.  He told his disciples that those who would believe their message (The “Believers” or Christians) would lay hands on the sick and they would be physically healed (Mark 16: 15-18). Though the passage in Exodus 4 is compelling, it is not relevant to Biblical healing post Jesus’ time spent at the whipping post; not withstanding the various verses that are directed to what the Believer is capable of accomplishing for the Kingdom of Heaven on earth because the Spirit of the Living God indwells them (1 John 4:17: “As He is so are we on earth,”  and 1 Corinthians 6:17, “those who are joined to the Lord are one in spirit with him,” and John 14:12, “Whoever believes in me will do the works that I have been doing and they will do even greater works because I am going to be with the Father.”)

Question:  I don't like some of your sample prayers. You talk too much about the devil. I don't want my child to hear of that when I pray for them. Do I have to pray this way in order for my child to be healed?

Answer:  Our model for prayer is Jesus's example and the Word of God.  Jesus commanded bodies to do what He wanted them to do and He told powers of darkness to flee from people's bodies. He did not always do the same thing for every healing he performed. There is even Biblical foundation for healing WITHOUT praying! (Mark 16:18) If you read the Biblical Foundations page you will see the various Scriptures that support Biblical avenues to healing.

Also, your child does not need to hear your prayers to be healed. You can pray from a distance and get results. You can also pray for them when they are sleeping if you do not want them to hear your prayers.

Question:  I do not like the way my child looks. It grieves me deeply. Is something wrong with me?

Answer:  If someone were to come into your home and break all of your mirrors & lamps, rip your upholstery furniture to shreds and write grafitti all over your walls, would you be o.k. with that?  Of course not!  Until justice was served and your house was back the way it should be, you are going to be reminded of the thievery and it would probably affect your demeanor.

It is the same way with our children. It is no longer acceptable to have symptoms of defect when we decide to believe God's words to us about healing. We like to think of this time of healing as an exciting and expecting time!  A time to watch our children blossom into the children (or adults) that God desires them to be.  It's not easy to remain in faith when you are believing for something that you cannot see, so surround yourself with faith filled Believers and ask them to walk the journey of healing with you.

Question:  How can I contact you?

Answer:  This website is established to empower the Believer to minister healing to their own child.  Matthew 11:11 "Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."  The Believer is in the Kingdom of Heaven. Why is Jesus saying that the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than all of the Old Testament great men of faith, like Abraham, David, Moses, Elijah? Jesus is saying that the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than these great men because the Believer has the Spirit of the Living God inside of them. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead indwells inside of the Believer.  You do not need to contact us.  You do not need us to help your child get healed, you have everything you need already.  Believe it and use it.
